Meet Our Sustainability Citizens
I think this program really helped me understand and unlock my passion for the environment and sustainability. By hearing from a multitude of different perspectives about what exactly sustainability and environmental justice means, I am better able to grasp the multidisciplinary problem that the climate crises poses.”
The event I enjoyed the most during my participation in the Sustainability Citizen Program was ‘Walk and Learn’, a land-based learning walk at High Park. Through this hands-on learning opportunity, I gained a deeper understanding of Indigenous ways of connecting with nature and celebrating their relationship with the land.”
Amidst all of the fear and climate anxiety in the world, there is also so much to be excited for – there are bold new ideas and many people who truly care, this program helps expose you to this world of hope so you can become a part of it!”
Attending sustainability events over the past few months has solidified my commitment to sustainable living. I acknowledge the magnitude of the environmental challenges we face, but it was truly inspiring to witness so many individuals actively working towards solutions. I hope to contribute by becoming more mindful of my consumption habits, supporting local and sustainable food systems and actively participating in community initiatives that promote environmental stewardship.”
This program has shown me that small, consistent actions—when combined with a collective effort—can lead to meaningful change, and I aim to live by this principle moving forward.
